it wasn't objectively better, it's just that the things you like were peaking back then. I've been thinking about it recently and there's pretty much no point in becoming an anime nerd past 2007 or so. It hit its high-water mark in 2005 along with a bunch of other subculture bullshit.

Because the money and effort poured into making the Internet fast was meant to have it everywhere all the time in everyone's faces. I don't mind having slow, old shit and I don't get why younger people insist on having fast everything (´￢`)

That's a problem I have with other, larger websites: every time something fun happens you get about five posts in before someone starts bemoaning the modern times and saying how "old" the post feels. I can't stand it! Have fun in the moment!
