I feel like in a lot of western countries there's a kind of inherited shame over sexual things which makes us confine them to "porn" or "jacking off" as a separate thing from "for entertainment," almost as if we continue to give them this reverence for the childbed inherited from Christianity where it's only for private, personal use. Whereas in more liberated countries, sexiness can permeate to various degrees as "entertainment" and "humor." I like ecchi because it's a more ambient level of sex as a form of humor and flavor, a kind of "in-between" between pr0nz and humor, which I feel is missing in the western world.
I guess you could say it's like the appeal of going to a maid cafe versus just going to a full-on soapland?
