used to be a big eva fan, was one of my favorite anime, but i gave it a rewatch recently including the end of evangelion movie and it doesn't resonate with me like it used to. i still consider it a well made and directed series, but i don't give it near as much credit as i used to. funny how time can change even the things that used to be so familiar and close to your heart.

i also first watched it when i was filled with self loathing and trying to fit in with the world, so shinji really resonated with me and i could see the way anno shone through in the other characters too. but something about it feels a bit pretentious to me now.
