I think the finale was okay, and overall I liked the anime. I wasn't sure on the meaning of the ending entirely, but someone suggested Lara gave up her love to become human and save Mari, which would certainly explain her seeming coldness at the end. However, I feel this could have maybe have been better expressed. Without a doubt, it was a very nihilistic ending, worse than bittersweet, because of how empty Lara seems and contrasted with how full of life things felt before, so it's no wonder it was poorly received (I don't have a high opinion of people who seem to really HAET it, however, they seem kind of stupid). (Unfortunately, discussion on BBS is also mired in the usual shitflinging that happens with "yuri anime", but that's neither here nor there.)

Absolutely gorgeous anime though, definitely the best this season, which is saying something given stuff like Jaadugar.
