Or better yet, vomiting cum. Hell, why not both? Some ideas for you to consider.

Believe it or not, spewing cum from our mouths is a common emotion expressed by your everyday user on Heyuri! We demand proper representation of this! KAGUYAPLSADDKTHX

I'm sort of on the fence about aliens, but I notice the sort of people who talk about them as if they exist tend to be 'rational' and 'scientific' types (or at least they might consider themselves such),-- who think it's egotistical to believe that humans are the only sapient life-forms in the universe (among many other 'humans are egotistical' beliefs.) I notice they also automatically assume that those aliens out there are more advanced than us, and could lord it over us if they pleased, but instead find us too primitive to bother dealing with. I think people give these possible aliens too much credit, so much that there seems to be an almost pseudo-religious belief in them.

Well it just seems to me that the people who believe in aliens in this way are atheist or agnostic, at least the ones I've encountered, so I'm wondering if this reverence for aliens is some kind of idolatrous thing, that is, while their belief in God declined, they started venerating aliens instead.
>>
I feel like there is a bit of a misunderstanding going on, or OP just interacted with pseudointellectuals who parrot whatever their favorite youtubers say without actually understanding what they are saying.

>I notice they also automatically assume that those aliens out there are more advanced than us
They must be referring to the space zoo theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoo_hypothesis). In short, aliens do not contact us because they want us to develop our society and technology naturally. There is however no reason to "automatically assume" this, so again, pseudos thinking they're smart.

>How can you find a human being primitive?
The human is a wondrous machine, no doubt, but our society might be primitive to an advanced alien race in the same way we find bronze age kingdoms primitive.

Personally, I think sapient extraterrestrial life does exist somewhere, maybe in our galaxy or in another, but the distance is way too big for allowing communication, let alone contact. Or maybe we're millions or billions of years too early and life on other planets still has to form. Who knows? nagato
>>
>Or maybe we're millions or billions of years too early and life on other planets still has to form. Who knows?

How interesting it would be if we were right about life existing on other planets, but were speaking of it too early. What if humans die out before life evolves on other planets...?monapc
>>
>I notice they also automatically assume that those aliens out there are more advanced than us
I find it more baffling to assume that an alien race would be wholly united, like under one world government straight out of Star Trek. I don't rule out the idea of an advanced alien planet, but I doubt they would get very far with sending any ambassadors on their species' behalf. Seeing how nationalism is so prominent on our planet, I think aliens would be too preoccupied with killing their neighbors than to cooperate with each other.

I wonder what their flags look like? pata

I usually cook up various scenarios in my head, featuring some sort of socially awkward high-school girl, who is depressed and being mistreated at school. I see lots of mental images of her crying in the bathroom, and standing at the beach or on a high bridge, contemplating suicide.

Occasionally I get very high-falutin' with it. Recently I cooked up this supernatural sort of scenario, where she gets raped by a jock, and then she realizes she has minor psychic powers when she almost kills the jock's sister, while trying to kill the jock himself. She attempts a vengeful long-game of trying to ruin the jock's life and eventually kill him, without anyone finding out about her psychic powers-- but unfortunately, the jock knew as soon as the psychic girl almost killed his sister, and thus consistently stays one step ahead of her, and constantly humiliates her, and she finds out that her powers are quite useless up against someone who is cunning and driven, and thus she continues suffering...

Somehow I find it helps me sleep...nida

File: U GONNA GET FIXED.jpg
(113 KB, 427x640)
...well, actually this is only some of it sweat2

Needs doing
- fix deferer's ampersand bug (currently, links that contain "&" characters get b0rked)
- restore proper file download button functionality (should open save dialog box with the original filename instead of just opening the image)
- fix BBCode Reference link so the window opens in new window/tab instead of replacing current page and wiping ur post (was fixed in the past, but got reverted at some point)
- add CSS to break filenames when they're too long to fit the browser viewport
- fix "Marked for deletion (old)" so it appears on all threads that are past the bump limit (currently 7 days I think?) instead of only 1 month old threads
- restore imageboard source/credits links at bottom of index (they currently only appear when viewing threads)
- update Strange World script to latest version of translated ksphp+

Optional quests
- Needs moar emotes and kaomoji! (additional: upgrade BBCode Reference page to better suit having a bajillion emotes - more responsive layout, categories, etc.)
- make BBCode Reference use whatever the hell the settings and quick reply windows use to make it appear in a floating window (like how it used to be pre-kokonotsuba)
- bring back option to disable quote tooltip (the annoying thing that appears whenever you highlight text)
- bring back strikethrough, underline, and code BBCode
- bring back sage/noko/fortune checkboxes
- bring back "Switch Form Position" feature (kokonotsuba used to have it but it vanished at some point)
- bring back "users can vote for multiple items" option on /vote/ ("users can vote multiple times" can stay gone)
- bring back classic PENIS and VAGINA wordfilters, maybe some others
- bring back optional "Neo Menu" board links
- bring back some kind of report feature
- bring back "Currently _ unique users on this board."
- bring back Heyuri archive/museum
- bring back Heyuri wiki (HHS)
- make 2ちゃん an offical Heyuri service, or make a Heyuri-specific instance just for us
- longposts needs moar "Comment too long. Click reply to view the full text" on the index
- make vote script use UTF-8 to prevent non-Latin character b0rkage (if u send me teh code, I'll attempt it - I've done it for other scripts in the past)
- move Heyuri IRC back to Rizon (the IRC is mainly useful when Heyuri is down, which usually means the servers are down... so hosting it on our servers is teh st00pid!)

Food for thought / miscellaneous
- Heyuri's holy grail: restoring /all/, or finding an adequete replacement (some kind of RSS feed? notifications API? porting the old /all/ code to work with kokonotsuba? needs moar research...)
- Heyuri boards were once commonly referred to as their actual titles instead of the board directory, just as the Japanese do (i.e. Off-Topic instead of /b/, Overboard instead of /all/, etc.). Might be worth going back to that
- let's brainstorm ideas for neat new boards/features/whatevers, there's a lot of kewl scripts out there...
- don't leave sticky threads up for more than 24 hours, they are activity killers!
- someone who is not kaguya or kuz should make an official Heyuri refuge/shelter bulletin board in case poop hits teh fan or kaguya suddenly disappears in a tragic boating accident
- Heyuri Remix... I doubt it will get used much and we don't really need moar discussion boards, but I'd like to see it given a real chance (it was never linked outside of once or twice on Strange World - most Heyuri users didn't even know it existed...)
- Heyuri PO Box: would u host it? It's pretty much complete, except that I'd rly liek to make it use hashed passwords instead of storing them in plaintext... I can try doing it myself, but it would be better if somebody who knows what they're doing did it (^^;

I don't think this is a good idea, kuz removed them on purpose too. Perhaps it should be optional JS on settings?

There is an issue for this on GitHub.

I don't want to draw attention to our IRC, but A. IRC is on a different server B. Rizon channel is still there too

>- Heyuri's holy grail: restoring /all/, or finding an adequete replacement (some kind of RSS feed? notifications API? porting the old /all/ code to work with kokonotsuba? needs moar research...)
There is an issue for this on GitHub. I rly want it too, especially a notifications API would be pretty cool.

>- Heyuri boards were once commonly referred to as their actual titles instead of the board directory, just as the Japanese do (i.e. Off-Topic instead of /b/, Overboard instead of /all/, etc.). Might be worth going back to that
I am doing this by myself lately. You do it too and other users will eventually pick up.

>- let's brainstorm ideas for neat new boards/features/whatevers, there's a lot of kewl scripts out there...
Thanks for that!

>- don't leave sticky threads up for more than 24 hours, they are activity killers!
Agreed

The way humans are evolving is in the direction of becoming more and more childlike. In the field of biology this process is called neoteny. It means that a species in it's adult form retains the childlike traits of it's ancestors. We are basically childlike apes, as our skulls are shaped like the skulls of baby apes. On itself this may seem like a negative direction to evolve in, but remaining more in a childlike state is also seen as the reason why we have become more intelligent than other primates as the brains of baby apes are relatively much bigger than adult apes. In biology the size of the brains are related to the intelligence of species (humans of course have the biggest brains of all creatures). So basically being childlike makes us smarter than being more adult like.

Animals that remain in their chidllike state also remain to have other personality traits of their childlike state. For example, curiousity and the desire to play is also related to being in a childlike state. In humans it can be observed that for example east asians are on average more neotenous (looking childlike) than for example whites and blacks. East asians on average also have a higher IQ than the other 2 groups. However, also they on average also have other more childlike interests like a high degree of interest in things that look 'cute', even when they are adults (like kawaii characters in things like anime).

I don't know if higher IQ can be attributed to this in South East Asians. They all have a more hard-working culture than we do, so in a way they make the kids grow up faster, and I'd daresay the cutesy stuff is the inevitable reaction against this.
In terms of IQ, well simply Asians are whipped into actually using that big wet thing in their skulls, while in the West we have relaxed our ideas of education to the point where it's going backwards. I've talked to many teachers during high school because I had this gut feeling this was the case, and most of them who were educational veterans with decades on their belt, agreed at once, and admit they just do the best they can with what they've got. Educational departments fail to see that they must present a challenge to their students and get them to aim higher than they need to, to make them end up where they actually want them to be. Failure on the student's part is OK, if they made them strive hard.
You present neoteny as a mostly positive thing and also an Asian thing, but I think we also have neoteny in the West where it is certainly negative. Young adults are obsessed with recreating their shallow childhood experiences, playing Roblox or Minecraft, and continue to watch cartoon shows or do similar things, all in a chase of a nostalgia high. It's definitely done no good to us.
>>
I will point out that brain size, while definitely contributing to intelligence, is not directly correlated to intelligence as much as it is to body size. for instance, whales and elephants have the largest brains but are less intelligent than humans, because most of that brain matter is used to monitor the sensations of their massive bodies and then give responses to their many muscles. and crows have tiny brains while being remarkably more intelligent than most dogs.
also, while it's true that our skulls are more rounded and our jaws are far less developed than our primate cousins, I'm not sure neoteny was the path that we used to evolve that way.

from what I remember, the popular theory is that early hominids discovered how to cook meat and used fire enough for it to affect our evolution; our ancestors didn't require massive jaws to chew raw meat and therefore could afford to have shorter, rounder heads that could more easily accommodate larger brains. and because we could cook meat and eat it easily and learn how to use tools, we could afford to feed those larger brains.
so anyway, it was kind of a positive feedback loop until our jaws were much smaller, our brains were much larger, we invented more sophisticated tools, and we developed proper agriculture (which was a disaster for human health and nutrition, but that's another topic).

neoteny might have been a mechanic by which evolution shaped our skulls, but if it's true, I think that's more of a coincidence than anything else. it's not like neoteny is inherently good for us. also, I don't think the forces of evolution are acting on humanity as you imagine they are, at least outside of third world countries. no longer are we hunted by beasts, conquered and outbred by barbarians, or wiped out because we did not stockpile for the winter. nowadays the development of our gene pool is mostly decided by social factors/sexual selection instead of natural selection by nonhuman forces. people are able to reproduce rapidly because they have a lot of money or because the government will take care of them, while others do not reproduce because they feel financially insecure or simply don't want to have children (which is a luxury the common man can have in this day and age). there's in interesting trend that high IQ people tend to have fewer children than those of low IQ. so if humanity is still evolving, it might turn out that the future generations are in fact more stupid on average! (・∀・)

as a fun aside I've remembered just now, I once heard the theory that because of sexual selection, the beautiful, healthy, and/or intelligent tend to reproduce with others who have similarly valuable traits, and all the ugly, unhealthy, and/or stupid people are left to breed with each other. if this pattern continues over the course of many thousands of years, then humans could diverge into one superhuman group with a lot of good traits and one subhuman group with few positive traits whatsoever. since those two groups are unlikely to interbreed outside of rape, they could undergo sympatric speciation to become two separate species! an interesting theory, right?

well this is because Europeans actually invented sex. Prior to European invention other cultures relied on artificial insemination that would be carried out by the village elder or similar esteemed clansmen. Of course the practice caught on as a fun new variation of an age old custom.
>>
Meanwhile in other areas, particularly in the middle east, sex was relatively unknown among the tribes that lived there as it had become lost with the rest of knowledge thanks to the Library of Alexandria having been burnt by Caesar, that asshole!! ヽ(`Д´)ノ
Their existence was threatened as none of the newer generations knew how to procreate. However, aid would arrive soon to them in the form of the Mongols, who taught them the long lost art of sex! Such good samaritans were the Mongols that they did wait for the tribes to ask for their help! ヽ(´∇`)ノ

I spend several hours a day looking at computer screens. i have a led monitor now but i kinda want a crt just because they look alot crisper with my resolution settings. But I heard they make your eyes radioactive and strain them more, is that true?
>>
I thought it was better for some things. They're getting popularer
>>
At lower refresh rates (below 85-100Hz) CRT monitors will typically strain ur eyes a lot more than LCDs, but I dunno about higher refresh rates

It's even more of an issue with 1990s/2000s CRT monitors than it is with older monitors or CRT TVs, since they generally have a lot less phospher persistance (the blanking between frames is more prominent and noticable) - howevar, this is also what allows them to go much higher in refresh rate without becoming a smeary mess

Something to keep in mind with CRT monitors is that there's always a balancing act between screen resolution and refresh rate - generally speaking, the lower resolution you go, the higher refresh rate you can use (and vice versa). Higher quality monitors will accept higher refresh rates at higher resolutions, but there will still be a trade-off somewhere
